I'm a 40 year old native New Yorker, now transplanted to New Jersey.
I joined LJ mainly to keep in touch with faraway friends. The comments lead to other journals which are also intriguing, so maybe additional friends will come out of this as well. If I've commented on you, or added you as a friend, and you don't know me, we probably know someone in common. I am a bit wary of the possible addiction here though, as I keep a very busy schedule already.
I spent 20 years in accounting, the last 10 as a manager for the corporate office of a large construction supply company. The company got so large they decided to restructure and closed the entire Brooklyn office. This led to some time off and a re-evaluation of my life. I have decided to go back to school for a nursing degree. I am honest, detail oriented, and can be anally-organized when my procrastination does not get in the way.
I am also a challenge square dancer and caller. I enjoy creating interesting choreography and exposing it to dancers with a passion for learning and fun.
Through square dancing, I met my current life partner, Patrick, and we had a civil union in November '07 after 15 wonderful years together. We became joint homeowners in Jersey City 5 years ago, and are currently enjoying household improvement projects. Our children are two cats, Henry & Echo.
When we are not away on weekend travel, we can be found at the Big Apple Ranch on Saturday nights, a gay country-western dance club. I am one of the dance instructors there teaching basic 2-step and various line dances.
My journal began by summing up the highlights of my life, acting as a memory keeper for me, rather than an amusing or sexual read for others, though I love the interaction of commenting and checking out others. I have begun to make more posts 'friends only'. Feel free to read and comment as you 'Get to Know Geo'.
